Focus and Scope

Journal of Contemporary Governance and Public Policy publishes original research, conceptual analyses, and critical reviews that explore the evolving dynamics of governance and public policy. The journal focuses on the interaction between institutions, regulatory frameworks, and societal actors in shaping effective, inclusive, and sustainable governance across local, national, and global contexts.

Journal of Contemporary Governance and Public Policy invites interdisciplinary and methodologically rigorous contributions addressing a wide range of topics, including—but not limited to—policy formulation and implementation, institutional reform, administrative law, digital governance, participatory and deliberative governance, transparency and accountability, and public sector innovation.

The journal places a strong emphasis on research grounded in the Global South, recognising the value of perspectives from rapidly transforming societies facing complex governance challenges. It encourages contributions that amplify empirical experiences from underrepresented regions to enhance theoretical discourse and inform comparative insights.

Submissions that critically engage with the principles of sustainable development, equity, and good governance are particularly welcome, especially those that align with or contribute to the realisation of specific targets of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Journal of Contemporary Governance and Public Policy prioritises scholarship that is not only theoretically and methodologically sound, but also socially transformative and relevant to public needs and policy practice.
